A Personal Journey in Advocacy & Education
Lida’s advocacy journey began in 2003, when she navigated the special education system firsthand while supporting a family member from early education through college. Through active participation in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, setting academic goals, and coordinating educational support services, she ensured that her family member had the necessary tools to succeed—culminating in a successful college graduation.
In addition to her extensive advocacy experience, Lida holds a degree in Architecture, which has helped her develop strong problem-solving, planning, and strategic thinking skills. These abilities now play a crucial role in guiding families through the complex structures of disability services, ensuring they understand their rights and receive the appropriate support.
Education & Inclusion
During her early years navigating the system, Lida worked with Regional Center Coordinator to provide and Individual Personal Program (IPP) tha outline the Individual needs to coordinate with the School Districts to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), implement school accommodations, and advocate for special education services. It was a challenging learning process, but through dedication and persistence, she gained firsthand insight into the obstacles families face when advocating for their loved ones.
